A North Philadelphia man has been arrested in the hit-and-run death of a man who was struck after pushing his 5-year-old son to safety on Roosevelt Boulevard in the Northeast.
Roderick Williams, 22, of the 3000 block of North 23d Street, was charged with vehicular homicide, driving under the influence in the death of Michael Romano, 43.
Police said Romano and his son, whose name was not released, were crossing the southbound outer lanes of the boulevard at Loney Street in Rhawnhurst when the car driven by Williams bore down on them.
Romano pushed the boy to safety, but could not get out of the way in time, police said.
