The police chief in Caln Township, Chester County, has been placed on paid administrative leave in an unspecified personnel matter, according to township officials.
Brian Byerly has been on the force for 26 years and chief for the last four years, said Township Manager Gregory E. Prowant, who had no further comment.
Efforts to reach Byerly were unsuccessful.
Lt. Jeffrey Nash, who has been with the department since 1994, will serve as acting chief of the 18-member department. - Mari A. Schaefer
