A Cherry Hill man was sentenced Friday to 17 years in state prison for killing a township firefighter, stabbing him 15 times at a party last year, authorities said. Naqueebullah Habibi, 20, of the 800 block of Cooper Landing Road, must serve 85 percent of the sentence before he is eligible for parole, Superior Court Judge Samuel Natal said.
Habibi pleaded guilty in July to aggravated manslaughter, admitting to slaying William Walker Jr., 21, of Cherry Hill. The two were at a house party on East Kay Drive in Cherry Hill on May 30, 2011, when the defendant and another person became embroiled in a minor dispute.
