First-year starter Craig Reynolds carried the load for Abington, running for 102 yards on 21 carries with a touchdown.
Abington's Dylan Collins, another first-year starter who served as a backup the past two seasons, completed 8 of 15 passes and threw for 78 yards and a touchdown with one interception.
"It feels good to get the first win in, absolutely. A little shaky in the beginning, kind of nervous a little bit," Collins said. "I felt a lot more comfortable [after a couple of drives]. I felt like I could do more with the ball. I felt like the line got out of nervousness and everybody just came in sync."
Fels' Jamiel Hines, despite missing time in the game because of cramping, flashed some of his elite talent. He rushed for 104 yards on six carries and caught two passes for 34 yards.
Hines put Fels ahead in the first quarter when he sprinted down the left side for a 59-yard touchdown. After a successful two-point conversion, Fels led by eight.
"I thought we showed flashes of what we can do," Fels coach William Harrigan said. "I certainly think we surprised [Abington]."
Fels was held scoreless the rest of the way and turned the ball over four times.
"[The turnovers] got us back on track in the second quarter," Sober said. "In the first quarter, we gave the defense horrible field position, and then we got it back. That was huge."
Toward the end of the first quarter, Abington found its comfort zone and completed a 58-yard scoring drive to get within one point early in the second quarter. Keith Boggi finished the drive with a 2-yard touchdown run.
After converting a Fels fumble into a 37-yard field goal, the Ghosts added another score before halftime. Reynolds carried the ball eight times for 46 yards on Abington's final drive of the half. He capped it with a 7-yard touchdown to expand the lead to 17-8.
After Fels shanked a 1-yard punt, setting up Abington on its own 29-yard line, the Ghosts finished the scoring in the third quarter. Collins completed a 12-yard pass and later an 8-yard pass to Boggi in the back of the end zone to inflate Abington's lead to 24-8.
