Southeastern Pa. Field Hockey Teams to Watch

Archbishop Carroll. A perennial powerhouse in the Philadelphia Catholic League, the Patriots will look to make it three league titles in a row.

Conestoga. After going undefeated in Central League action last season, the Pioneers return three key seniors for first-year coach Megan Ryan. There likely will be a close fight for the league crown with teams such as Haverford High and Radnor.

Council Rock North. Another year, another title: the Indians won once again last year and will attempt to make it four straight Suburban One League National Conference championships this fall.

Episcopal Academy. The Churchmen will be the team to beat again in the Inter-Ac League and have a great chance of finishing the season on top behind Alana Dumas. Episcopal likely will battle for the league title with Notre Dame.

Owen J. Roberts. Coming off the school's first District 1 Class AAA championship, the Wildcats are poised for yet another big year under coach Clarence Jennelle.

Villa Maria Academy. The Hurricanes will lean on seniors Olivia Bolles, Megan Murphy, and Maura Zarkoski to make smart decisions on the field and create opportunities in hopes of returning to last year's form. Villa reached the PIAA Class AA state final in 2011.

Wissahickon. The Trojans finished 18-5 overall last season and were undefeated in the Suburban One American, while holding their opponents scoreless five times. Senior midfielder Jackie Hibbs is expected to have another stellar season.
