Posted: September 06, 2012

Sunoco Logistics Partners L.P. is moving ahead with a new pipeline to transport refined products from Midwestern refineries to eastern Ohio and Pittsburgh.

The Philadelphia company, which transports fuels and crude oil, announced Wednesday it had received sufficient commitments from customers during a recent "open season" to build the Allegheny Access pipeline. The project will follow an existing right of way from refineries in Toledo, Ohio, and Lima, Ohio, to delivery points in Cleveland; Mogadore, Ohio; Youngstown, Ohio, and Pittsburgh. It is building the project with Inland Corp., which is 84 percent owned by Sunoco Logistics.

The company did not disclose the cost of the project, whose construction will employ 600 people. The pipeline will have an initial capacity of 85,000 barrels a day when operations start in the first half of 2014.
