Kutztown quarterback is off to a flying start

After a dazzling season opener, Kutztown quarterback Kevin Morton was named co-offensive player of the week in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference's East Division.

Morton, an Abington High graduate, completed 31 of 45 passes for 409 yards and six touchdowns as Kutztown routed St. Anselm, 58-6.

He shared the award with another quarterback, Zach Zulli of Shippensburg. The former Perkiomen Valley High star threw for a career-high 392 yards as the Red Raiders beat Shepherd, 38-28.

Millersville linebacker Jordan Rigby was named PSAC East defensive player of the week.

Women's soccer. La Salle (2-2) remained atop the Mid-Atlantic Regional National Soccer Coaches Association of America rankings for the third straight week.

Chestnut Hill College's Kaelyn Pizarro (Berlin) earned honorable mention among the weekly award winners in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference.

Women's cross-country. Philadelphia University's Taylor Falvey was named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference runner of the week. Falvey won the Delaware Valley College Invitational on Saturday, completing the six-kilometer course in 24 minutes, 26.30 seconds.

Men's cross-country. Philadelphia University sophomore Tim Malloy (Haddonfield) placed second at the Delaware Valley College Invitational in 28:4.38. He was an honorable-mention selection in the CACC weekly honors.

Women's volleyball. University of the Sciences freshman Caitlyn Crawford was named CACC rookie of the week after she had eight blocks and nine kills in the opener against the College of St. Rose. Teammate Stacey Wooden (Levittown) earned honorable mention in the weekly awards.

Women's tennis. Chestnut Hill junior Kelly Dennis was named CACC player of the week after the Griffins beat Molloy College, 9-0.

Freshman Iman Williams-Mulesa was named CACC rookie of the week.
