Send us your back-to-school photos

Posted: September 07, 2012

Hey, parents: Send us photos of your kids' first day back to school and we'll feature the best ones in the Daily News next week and at Philly.com/Education.

Send the photos to DNSchools@phillynews.com. Make sure to include your child's name, age and what school they attend.

As tens of thousands of students return to school Friday in the Philadelphia School District, the district asks that anyone with any issues settle them at the school.

Issues can include transferring a student out of school, finding out about special education services, and talking with a parent outreach coordinator to mediate a problem.

If it cannot get resolved at the school or principal level, then parents or guardians are urged to go to the closest Parent and Family Resource Centers. The district recommends you call ahead.

Here's a list of the parent centers:

Center City Center, at district headquarters on Broad Street near Spring Garden, (215) 400-4180; Northwest Center, Leeds Middles School on Mt. Pleasant Avenue near Lowber in East Mt. Airy, (215) 248-6685; Rivera Center, on 5th Street near Huntington in Fairhill, (215) 291-5680; South Center, Childs' Building on Wharton Street near 16th in Point Breeze, (215) 952-6300; Northeast Center, Chalfont Drive near Knights Road in Northeast Philadelphia, (215) 281-3623; West Center, McMichael School on Fairmount Avenue near 36th in Mantua, (215) 823-2250.
