Yo La Tengo really has it. Yo La Tengo are a Hoboken trio who have come to embody the whole idea of the indie rock band. They've kept growing and changing since their debut in 1992 - and so have their most popular tunes. That's the fun and challenge of this band, who appear Saturday at Penn's Landing as part of WHYY's Connections Festival.

Urban hike

A daylong tour of the city. Make sure your boots are made for walkin' for the Association of Philadelphia Tour Guides' impressive 12-hour walking tour of the city, which begins at 8 a.m. at the National Constitution Center and ends at 8 p.m.

at the Water Works on the Schuylkill. Broken up into four phases (you can join or leave at any one), the tour will take you to nearly 200 attractions and landmarks. Registration advised but not required. Info: 215-518-9054, http://www.phillyguides.org/.

Movie

Three buddies make a movie. In The Words, Bradley Cooper (who executive- produced, working wth scriptwriters and his longtime buddies Brian Klugman and Lee Sternthal) is Rory Jansen, a struggling writer who, by a fateful turn of events and a manuscript of awesome artistry, becomes a best-selling, prize-winning sensation. Zoe Saldana, Jeremy Irons, Dennis Quaid, Olivia Wilde, and Ben Barnes also star. The movie is set in New York and Paris (and a little bit in Philadelphia), just after World War II and to the present day. At area theaters.
