Sat. S.J. girls' roundup: Mainland blanks Buena

It took Mainland sophomore Marge Dodds only two minutes to score the game-winner in Saturday's Cape-Atlantic League girls' soccer matchup with Buena.

She scored again just 19 minutes later, cementing the win for the Mustangs, as they easily defeated the Chiefs, 5-0.

Anna Gordon, Shea Scannell, and Erica Weeks scored the other three goals for the Mustangs, and sophomore Brooke Vitale recorded two saves in her fourth career shutout.

Tri-County. Glassboro beat Pennsville, 1-0, on a second-half goal by Maria Mancini.

The Bulldogs got 10 saves in net from Brianna Diarenzo in the team's second straight shutout. Mancini has scored a goal in the last two games for the Bulldogs.

Glassboro is 2-0 this year, scoring seven goals in two games.

Clearview received goals from four players en route to a 4-0 shutout of Delsea.

Hannah Seabert had 11 saves for the Pioneers, and Gianna Bowe had a goal and an assist.

Nicole Figueroa, Jessica Shanahan, and Jackie Trafton had the three second-half goals for Clearview.

Bowe has scored in each game so far for the Pioneers (1-1).

Nonleague. Two first-half goals were enough for Cherokee to defeat Rancocas Valley.

Sarah Jackson scored seven minutes into the first half and then 13 minutes later, and the Chiefs held off a second-half push.

Jessica Brownell scored for Rancocas Valley.

Cherokee has scored seven goals in its two wins, getting goals from six players.

Jaclyn Carty finished off a cross from Casey Baker to give Paul IV a 1-0 win against McDonogh School (Md.).

Baker's cross came off a corner kick.

The goal, which occurred with 33 minutes remaining in the game, moved Paul IV to 1-1 this season.

Goalie Kristen McShane had eight saves.

Field Hockey

In nonleague action, Sterling and Cedar Creek battled to a 1-1 draw.

Rosalie Hood scored a first-half goal for Cedar Creek, but Jenna Campbell tied the game for the Knights in the second half.

Neither team could get the golden goal in overtime to get the win. Both teams are 0-1-1 this season.

Six players scored goals for Eastern as it defeated Rancocas Valley, 11-0.

Austyn Cuneo led the attack for the Vikings with four goals and one assist.

Emma Johansson and Kasey Morano added two goals apiece, and while Meredith Kalberer, Jade Dixon and Karlee Spirit scored the other three.
