You didn't have to be Cecily Tynan or Sheena Parveen to know Saturday night's game between the Phillies and Colorado Rockies was in jeopardy before either team arrived at the ballpark.

The Phillies waited nearly three hours after the scheduled start time since they undoubtedly didn't want to play a day-night doubleheader Sunday. But when the game was finally postponed at 9:54 p.m., that's exactly what they got.

Cole Hamels, Saturday's scheduled starter, will pitch the first game, which will begin at 1:05 p.m. The second game will begin at 6:35 p.m. and the tickets from Saturday night's postponement will be honored then.

Hamels will be opposed by Colorado's Tyler Chatwood, who was also scheduled to pitch Saturday.

The nighttime pitching matchup will have the Phillies' Tyler Cloyd (1-1, 2.77) making his third career start, against the Rockies' Drew Pomeranz (1-8, 4.93).

The weather forecast was gloom and doom, and the weather radar's lines of green, yellow, and red had tracked to Citizens Bank Park by 6 p.m.

And still they waited. And when the game was finally called by public address announcer Dan Baker, the few who remained were not happy to hear it.

Though the tarp was rolled on 90 minutes before game time Saturday and never came off, the crowd did get to see some baseball. The Phillies aired the St. Louis-Milwaukee game on the giant high-definition screen that sits above Harry the K's restaurant.

The Brewers' 6-3 win pulled the Phillies within 61/2 games of the National League's first ever second wild-card spot. It's the closest the Phillies have been in the playoff race in a long time.
