Temple field hockey falls to Lafayette, 3-0

The final stick touches on offense just did not connect for Temple field hockey in a 3-0 loss to visiting Lafayette (3-1) on Sunday afternoon at Geasey Field.

Sophomore Nicole Gerdes scored her second goal of the season, but St. Joseph's came up short, losing at Fairfield, 2-1.

Drexel's five-game winning streak came to an end as the Dragons fell on the road to No. 16 Stanford, 2-1. The Dragons are now 5-1.

Columbia scored five second-half goals to pull away from La Salle for an 8-3 win in New York. Senior Becca Chylack (Souderton) and junior Mariel Papa (Eastern) scored for the second straight game for the Explorers.

Women's soccer. In the final game of the Villanova Classic, the host Wildcats (2-4-2) got two goals from sophomore Victoria Gersh to lift themselves to victory over La Salle (3-3-2), 3-2.

Host Temple fell to Ivy League power Princeton, 1-0.

Men's soccer. Freshman Joe Farrell (Wissahickon) scored the equalizer with 34 seconds remaining in regulation, and La Salle played visiting Lafayette to a 1-1 tie in double OT.

Host Villanova dropped a 1-0 decision to the Air Force Academy despite outshooting the Falcons, 25-13.

Penn dropped to 0-4-0 despite outshooting Hartford, 24-13, in a 2-1 loss to the Hawks in the Penn Soccer Classic.
