Sideshow: Philly chef is winner on 'Hell's Kitchen'

Posted: September 12, 2012

Flying knives and invective? One of the hardest parts of Christina Wilson's experience on the Fox series Hell's Kitchen was the long year of keeping quiet about the outcome. Monday night, she was named the winner of Season 10 of the Gordon Ramsay cooking drama, and she starts Wednesday on her $250,000 contract as chef at Gordon Ramsay Steak at the Paris hotel in Las Vegas.

Suspicions were heightened after her return from taping, when she quit her chef de cuisine job at Mercato, a BYOB on Spruce Street.

Wilson, 33, says she will train 14 to 15 hours a day in Ramsay's kitchen at the Paris. After two weeks, "I go home, grab my cat, and come back to work," she said.

Could you call it tat for tat?

Barbadian songbird Rihanna showed off her sub-mammary Isis tattoo on Instagram recently. Now, Chris Brown, her much-inked former bf and abuser, has his own big new tat, on his neck. And, well, it looks a lot like her. And it's all marked up. Defenders call it decorative, artistic. Others say the woman looks beat up. Brown claims it's a Day of the Dead skull. It sure is not of Brown's current skweezie, Karreuche Tran; she's on his arm. Hmm.

Leno downsizes his salary

The Wall Street Journal reports that last month, NBC talk-show captain Jay Leno took a 50 percent whack in pay, from about $30 million to only a paltry $15 mils. Poor guy! Why? To prevent further layoffs after network suits decreed a 20 percent cut in the $100 million Tonight show budget and eliminated 20 jobs. The show now has a staff of 200.

Sniggles and squiggles

Then there's NBC's Today. At 8:48 a.m., the moment of observation for 9/11, ABC and CBS covered the ceremonies. Meantime, doobydoobydoo, on Today, the incredibly indispensable Kris Jenner, mom of the Kardashian klan, was discussing her breast augmentation. Folks are mad. . . . Anna Paquin, 39, and Stephen Moyer, 42, are proud parents of twins. The True Blood stars, married since 2010, don't specify the place, time, or gender of the twofers. . . . Suri Cruise started first grade Tuesday, accompanied by mom Katie Holmes to private Avenues School in N.Y.C. It's Suri's first day at any school: Up to now, she's been home-schooled by parents Tom Cruise and Holmes, soon to divorce. . . . Britney Spears and former bodyguard Fernando Flores agreed to end their two-year lawsuit, in which he alleged genital flashing and abusive parenting on her part. . . . Security-tech firm McAfee says Emma Watson is the most dangerous celeb to search for online. Stick her in your search field, if she fits, and you have a 1-in-8 chance of landing on a mal-site. Other risky searches, McAfee says, include Jessica Biel, Eva Mendes, Selena Gomez and Halle Berry. Nineteen of the 20 most dangerous names were ladies, which shows you who uses the Web and what for. The only male? Yes, you guessed it: Jimmy Kimmel.
