Second-half explosion lifts Franklin Towne

Whatever it was that was said in the Franklin Towne Charter huddle at halftime Monday afternoon should be bottled for the rest of the season.

Franklin Towne Charter scored four times in the second half to rally from a two-goal deficit and beat Philadelphia Academy Charter, 4-2, in a Public League boys soccer game.

Jeremy Roberts scored the go-ahead goal on a cross from Steve Gassman with 12 minutes left. Kelby Espinola added an insurance goal.

In other Public League action, Stefan Koprivicia and Seriah Wogbeh each scored twice to lead Washington to a 7-0 victory over Boys' Latin.

Suburban One Continental. Steven Cornell headed home a corner from Tyler Sablyak in the 96th minute to lift Central Bucks West over Central Bucks East, 1-0, in double overtime.

Matt Robinson beat a defender to a through ball and ripped a shot from 15 yards that beat the goalie and gave North Penn a 2-1 victory over Central Bucks South. Connor Stackhouse had tied it for Central Bucks South shortly before on a free kick.

Ryan Molyneaux and Elija Pizzo scored second-half goals as Souderton beat Hatboro-Horsham 2-0.

Suburban One American. Five minutes after Jobe Hunter tied it, Alex Dilodeau scored the go-ahead goal in the second half to give Plymouth Whitemarsh a 2-1 victory over Cheltenham.

John Ross and Tyler Whitehead each scored twice as Upper Dublin routed Norristown, 8-0.

Bicentennial League. Andrew Costa assisted on every Lower Moreland goal in a 4-0 win over Calvary Christian. Christian Martins scored a pair.

Nonleague. Senior Dan Trodden scored twice, including the tie-breaking goal in the 25th minute as Archbishop Wood beat Springside Chestnut Hill 3-1.

Sophomore Rushawn Larmond scored all three goals for Pottsgrove in a 3-1 victory over Downingtown East.

Kieran Locke's header off a Nick Sperger corner eight minutes into the game was all Abington Friends needed in a 1-0 win over Bishop McDevitt.

Two overtimes couldn't separate Episcopal Academy and Bishop Shanahan in a 2-2 tie. Tyler Haab scored his first varsity goal for Episcopal.

Girls' soccer

Three players scored twice for Central in a 7-0 Public League victory over Frankford. Zishna Coucil, Sydney Epstein, and Liza Tomczuk were the multiple goal scorers.

In other Public League games, Stefanie Ulmer scored twice and assisted on both of Rachel Gilbores' goals as Franklin Towne Charter beat Philadelphia Academy Charter, 5-0.

Julia Magowan scored three times and Cat Bezhani and Danielle Delaney had two apiece for Masterman in a 7-0 win over Bodine.

Heather Auslander's three goals propelled Girls High to a 5-1 victory over Washington.

Ches-Mont. Great Valley's Kristen Hale scored twice in a 4-0 defeat of Kennett.

Nonleague. Archbishop Wood needed 96 minutes to beat Conestoga, 1-0. Aubrey Brown found the ball in a scrum in front of the goal and punched it in.

Cailin Grey scored three times, including a breakaway and a penalty kick, as Wissahickon beat Springfield 4-1.

In other nonleague action, Council Rock North got a goal and an assist from sophomore Michaela Finneyfrock in a 3-0 win over Abington.

Sarah Roos scored three times and Audree Bomavita made 11 of her 13 saves in the second half as Perkiomen Valley beat Methacton.

Field Hockey

Kerri Harner and Jenninfer Meninger each scored to give Norristown a 2-1 win over Upper Dublin in a nonleague game.

Jess Tennett notched three goals and Pennridge scored four in the second half to beat Quakertown, 5-2.

Julie Cardamome's two goals were the difference for Wissahickon in a 3-2 win over Springfield.
