Temple coach Steve Addazio: Owls can build on second half against Maryland Terrapins

Posted: September 12, 2012

Temple coach Steve Addazio thinks the Owls can build on their second-half effort against Maryland.

The Terrapins held a commanding 26-3 lead before escaping with a 36-27 victory on Saturday at Lincoln Financial Field.

"To be in that game, to have it 29-27 with seven minutes left to play - come on," Addazio said Monday during a teleconference. "We gave up 16 points in four minutes before the half. So I think that showed something."

Nation's best. Temple middle linebacker Nate D. Smith leads the Football Bowl Subdivision with three forced fumbles in two games. The redshirt freshman also ranked fourth in the FBS in solo tackles (8.5 per game).

Outside linebacker Olaniyi Adewole and running back Nate Smith also are high in the national rankings. Adewole is tied for first in fumble recoveries with Cincinnati's Camaron Beard with an average of one per game. Brown is ranked fourth in all-purpose yards (212 per game).

Taking a break. The Owls (1-1) are off this week. They will play at Penn State on Sept. 22 at 3:30 p.m.
