Wed. Pa. girls' roundup: O'Hara, Friends' Central tie

Two overtimes were not enough to determine a winner as Cardinal O'Hara tied, 2-2, at Friends' Central in a nonleague girls' soccer match on Wednesday.

Early in the second half, Carly Mirarchi found the net for the second time to give O'Hara a 2-0 lead.

Emily Tedesco and Maria Pizzini rallied Friends' Central with goals in the 56th and 60th minutes.

Both goalies stood out, with Carrie Zamonski making nine saves for the Lions and Caroline Fakharzadeh recording seven for Friends' Central.

Ches-Mont. Elaine Byerley collected a goal and two assists to lead Bishop Shanahan to a 4-0 win at Oxford. The Eagles defense proved tough, allowing zero shots as they moved to 3-0-1 in the league.

Public. Masterman scored five goals in the first half on its way to a 7-1 win over Northeast at home. Cat Bezhani scored three goals in the game.

Suburban One National. McKenna Mullin made three saves to earn a 7-0 shutout as Neshaminy defeated visiting Abington. Megan Schafer notched two goals.

Inter-Ac. Penn Charter won, 4-1, at home against Baldwin behind two goals from Jlon Flippens. The highlight belonged to Emma Ebert when she curled a corner kick off the far post and into the net in the 25th minute.

Freshman Ellie Greenberg scored for Baldwin.

Field Hockey

Freshman goalkeeper Kerri Hanshaw made four saves and received help from her teammates as Perkiomen Valley defeated visiting Boyertown, 9-0, in a Pioneer Athletic Conference game.

Nine players scored a goal apiece, and Hanshaw earned her first varsity win and shutout.

In other conference action, Upper Perkiomen's Carrie Nice scored a second-half goal to lift the Indians to a 1-0 win at home against Phoenixville.

Catholic. Cardinal O'Hara was led by junior forward Marissa Cicione, who scored four goals and added an assist in a 9-0 win at Archbishop Wood.

Megan Kelly scored three goals for Archbishop Carroll in a 7-0 victory at home over Bishop McDevitt. Gabby Sutter and Katie Kelly each had two goals.

Inter-Ac. Avery Shoemaker scored two first-half goals and notched an assist to move Penn Charter past Baldwin, 5-0, at home.

Suburban One. Jen Marchet scored both goals for Upper Dublin in a 2-0 win at Cheltenham.

Pioneer Athletic Conference. Carrie Nyce scored the lone goal in Upper Perkiomen's 1-0 victory over Phoenixville.

Nonleague. Gina Pileggi of Episcopal Academy made nine stops to earn a 5-0 shutout at home against Lawrenceville. Senior Kali Kilmer netted a goal in each half to pace the offense.

Pope John Paul II was paced by Shannon Mooney's hat trick as the Panthers won at Conwell-Egan, 6-0.

Goalie Marley Golato had five saves for the shutout.
