Hay Maze at Woodmere Art Museum
On Friday night, Woodmere Art Museum debuts its Harry Potter-themed straw maze exhibit with a free opening celebration offering outdoor fun from 6 to 8 p.m. The exhibit is on display weekends through Oct. 28.
Called "Diagon Alley, Woodmere's Wizarding Market" maze, it is designed by Peter E. Brown of Fort Washington and made with 100-pound hay bales arranged in four concentric squares located one inside the other. Inside the maze, which is based on the Diagon Alley shopping area in the Harry Potter series where wizard supplies can be bought, kids can find everything they need to be a wizard. Navigate the maze with a seek-and-find activities guide and gain access to markets. Past the maze portals is the commitment wall, a solid bale wall where visitors can try to figure out how to gain access to the interior square, where a big red ball is located for kids to kick and play with.
Also, there will be free Harry Potter-themed magical art-making activities from 6 to 7 p.m. Fridays and 2 to 4 p.m. Sundays through Oct. 28 with the museum's Harry Potter Weekend: Tri-Wizard Tournament, Magic Wands, and Treats From the Trolley.
