Fri. Pa. girls' roundup: Carroll edges Merion Mercy

Junior Monica Clark scored three goals and senior Shannen Leahy tallied the game-winner with seven minutes remaining for host Archbishop Carroll in a 4-3 win over Merion Mercy on Friday in a nonleague girls' soccer match.

Leahy scored on a one-time effort from 35 yards that slipped through the grasp of the goalie and into the top left corner of the net.

In other nonleague play, Ally Kirkpatrick tallied a pair of goals, including the winner in overtime, in Penncrest's 3-2 win at Kennett.

Rebecca Sherry scored with 8 minutes, 4 seconds remaining to lift West Chester Henderson to a 2-1 win over Garnet Valley at home.

Senior captain Jess Minderjahn scored twice, with assists from younger sister Caroline Minderjahn, for George School in a 2-0 win at Perkiomen School.

Kirsten Wilhelmsen scored twice in host Strath Haven's 3-0 win over Sun Valley.

Suburban One American. Meghan Guzewicz broke a scoreless tie in the eighth minute of overtime to give host Wissahickon a 1-0 win over Cheltenham.

Inter-Ac. Meghan McCool scored in the 15th minute and Madi Sehn made 10 saves to preserve a 1-0 win for visiting Springside Chestnut Hill against Notre Dame.

Lauren Dimes scored both of Penn Charter's goals in a 2-0 win against Agnes Irwin at home.

Bicentennial. Bridget Alexander scored two goals, including one on a penalty kick, as Lower Moreland topped visiting Delco Christian, 4-2.

Pioneer Athletic Conference. Kayla Smith had two goals as Upper Perkiomen dropped Pottstown, 5-0, at home.

Suburban One National. Jess Kelly, Megan Mandia, and Katie Suchodolski all scored twice in Neshaminy's 8-0 win over William Tennent at home.

Field Hockey

With 5:30 remaining, Catherine Perlmutter scored for the second time to lift Germantown Academy to a 3-2 win over visiting Academy of the New Church in a nonleague match.

In other nonleague action, Alyssa Reuger's two goals proved to be the difference in Jenkintown's 2-1 win at Washington.

Courtney Devine and Olivia Nostrant scored to help Merion Mercy top Archbishop Carroll, 2-0.

Tri-County. Katie Irwin scored her first career goal 12:23 into the first half, and it proved to be the game-winner as West-Mont Christian topped Kimberton Waldorf, 2-1.

Suburban One American. Alycia Hildebrand and Jen Marchet scored and Dana Russell made two stops for Upper Dublin in a 2-0 win at Upper Moreland.

Emily Gallagher had a hat trick and Wissahickon outshot Cheltenham, 44-7, in an 11-2 win.

Inter-Ac. Leah Becker tallied a pair of goals in Episcopal Academy's 4-0 home win against Baldwin.

Mady McLennan, Olivia Tornetta, and Sophia Tornetta scored for Agnes Irwin in a 3-1 win at Penn Charter.

Maggie Fitzgerald had three goals and Emily Faught and Taylor Leonhardt each scored twice in Notre Dame's 8-0 win over Springside Chestnut Hill.

Lilly Crager and Lexi Curry each scored two goals as Episcopal topped Baldwin, 7-0.

Pioneer Athletic Conference. Alex Hoover scored four times and had an assist to lead Methacton to a 9-1 win over Boyertown.
