"The contract stated that if there was less than 200 people in the venue, then the artists would not be obligated to perform. The event was a bust on the promoter's behalf," Hobson said.
Perrier to cook at Heirloom
Chef Georges Perrier has agreed to cook dinner using his recipes Nov. 14 at Heirloom (8705 Germantown) in Chestnut Hill.
Perrier got to talking with Heirloom chef Al Paris after dining there recently with his daughter Genevieve and her fiancé. The former Le Bec-Fin owner went for the Hudson Valley foie gras, watermelon gazpacho, pork tenderloin with spoonbread and gingersnap gravy, and some good wine.
Perrier and Paris haven't yet worked out the menu for Perrier's first public cooking since he sold Le Bec-Fin last spring.
Mike Vogel joins 'McCanick'
Abington native Mike Vogel ("The Help," "Blue Valentine," "Cloverfield") has replaced "Superman Returns" star Brandon Routh in "McCanick," the crime drama filming here and starring David Morse and "Glee" actor Cory Monteith, director Josh Waller told us Monday. Vogel plays the police-officer partner of Morse's character, Eugene "Mack" McCanick.
It's the first time Vogel has gotten to work in Philly.
Rachel Nichols, who appeared in the 2009's "Star Trek" and "G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra," plays Vogel's wife in the movie.
Politicos at lawyer wedding
Former Mayor John Street, City Council President Darrell Clarke, Councilman Kenyatta Johnson and Councilwoman Jannie Blackwell were guests at the Saturday nuptials of lawyers Charles Gibbs and Monica Golphin at the Brandywine Manor House in Honey Brook.
Gibbs worked in the Street administration and now works for Michael Bowman's firm. Golphin, a former Defender Association attorney, is now a personal-injury lawyer. The happy couple are honeymooning in Barbados.
Johari Rollins, wife of Phillies shortstop Jimmy Rollins, and judges Karen Simmons, Roxanne Covington, George Overton and Vincent Johnson were also among those at the wedding.
Charitably minded
Jazz Bridge, a local nonprofit devoted to assisting local jazz and blues musicians in need, is trying to raise $6,000 through a Kickstarter.com campaign to help fund its 40-event season.

NBC 10 alumni hang at Hymie's
Former NBC 10 colleagues Mike Strug and Steve Levy caught up over lunch recently at Hymie's (342 Montgomery) in Merion. Levy, who lives mainly on a ranch in Colorado, visited the area and hooked up with Strug for a bite at what had been a longtime haunt of the anchor's.
Local guys in Guinness book
Philadelphia's Christopher Wall made the 2012 Guinness Book of Records.
At 37, Wall is the longest-known survivor of the condition ectopia cordis in which the heart lies outside the body. Many patients don't live longer than 48 hours.
He's joined in the Guinness book by fellow local Brian Dwy- er, co-owner of the new Pizza Brain (2313 Frankford), who got a shout-out in the Guinness Book of Records for having the largest collection of pizza-related items, with 561 as of July 31, 2011.
Dwyer has since received hundreds more, including Your Humble Narrator's pizza costume, which was worn with the Vaudevillains NYB in the 2010 Mummers Parade.
