Cops: Ridley Twp. woman raped, forced to smoke marijuana

A RIDLEY Township woman was raped in her home Saturday by an armed man who demanded that she smoke pot and cuddle with him, according to court documents.

The suspect also repeatedly told the victim that he was Irish, and said that she could trust an Irish man, police said.

The bizarre and brutal case began around midnight Saturday when the victim awoke in her apartment, on MacDade Boulevard in the Woodlyn section of Ridley Township, and found a man standing by the window in her room, police said.

The man, identified by police as Samuel McKeown, 25, pulled out a green folding knife and told the victim, "I will kill you," and, "I have connections," court documents said.

After the attacker raped the woman, he told her that he "needed to get higher" and then forced her to smoke a marijuana blunt with him, police said.

He then tried to make his victim cuddle with him, police said.

Throughout the ordeal, McKeown repeatedly told his victim "about being Irish and you can trust an Irish man," according to court documents.

McKeown then raped her again before asking for a cigarette and leaving, police said.

He was identified as a suspect after the victim described her attacker as white with an eyebrow piercing above his right eye and a lip ring in his bottom lip, police said. McKeown's mother lives in the same apartment complex and the victim identified him in a photo lineup, police said.

McKeown was arrested and charged with rape, aggravated indecent assault and related offenses.

A knife like the one described by the victim was found in McKeown's mother's apartment, and she told authorities that her son had asked her to hold it for him, police said.

When interviewed by police, McKeown denied raping the victim. When police noticed that he was missing his piercings and asked him where they were, he told them that he'd sold them to buy pot, court documents said.
