Thurs. Pa. boys' roundup: Springfield edges Conestoga

Luke Krauter's first-half throw-in proved to be the game-winning assist on Thursday afternoon as Springfield (Delco) inched past Conestoga, 1-0, in a Central League boys' soccer matchup.

Mark Gurenlian volleyed Krauter's throw from just inside the 6-yard line, and the Cougars held on the rest of the way. Dave Sousa posted 20 saves for his second straight shutout.

In other Central League action, Lower Merion scored twice in the first half to ease past host Haverford High, 2-0.

Brian Roberts scored off an assist by Matt Lindheim, and Greg Levy finished off a through ball from Mark Abi-Khattar for the Aces' two goals.

Upper Darby jumped to a 2-0 lead before downing Radnor, 2-1. Stewart Mena and Dan Ortiz scored for the Royals.

Bicentennial. Ryan Roth converted a free kick in the second half to give Holy Ghost Prep a one-goal lead en route to a 3-1 triumph over host Lower Moreland.

Ches-Mont. Jay Ringer scored off a head ball in the 18th minute as West Chester Rustin raced past Octorara, 3-1.

Tri-County. T.J. Seltner's direct kick from 35 yards secured Mercy Vocational's 2-0 win at Collegium. James Loftus had 17 saves for the shutout.

Nonleague. Freddie Wachter scored all three of West-Mont Christian's goals, including the game-winner in overtime, in a 3-2 victory over host Del-Val Friends.

Football

Antoine Whitney recorded two interceptions and also hauled in a touchdown pass as Bok blanked Boys' Latin, 40-0, in a Public League Class AAA game at Southern.

Michael Riley and Anthony Pelzer each scored a pair of touchdowns to lead Bok.

Del-Val Charter 12, Communications Tech 0 - Antron Smith sprinted for a touchdown in the first quarter and then recovered a fumble in the fourth as Del-Val eased past Communications Tech.

Smith provided the opening score with a 27-yard rush in the first quarter. His 49-yard fumble return set up Rashan Cade's nine-yard touchdown strike to William Turner.
