Philly Jazz Fest
A star lineup kicks off the all-day inaugural Philly Jazz Fest, featuring R&B and jazz favorites Pieces of a Dream, vocalist Denise King and the Denise King Quintet, trumpeter Duane Eubanks, the Swing City Blues Band with Frank Bey, and the dean of the city's tenor sax players, Bootsie Barnes. The festival, starting at 1 p.m. at the Sheraton Downtown ballroom, 17th and Race Streets, is the inspiration of Woody Woodland and Carol Stone, founders of the Cape May Jazz Festival. Truck tour
Bring your family out to see all types of service trucks at Elam United Methodist Church's Touch-a-Truck event. The event, which runs from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m., includes fire trucks, ambulances, vintage trucks, and more. Not to mention food trucks with pizza and ice cream. The church is located at 1073 Smithbridge Rd., Glen Mills. Money raised by the event goes to Save Our Shelters, an initiative by the Community Action Agency of Delaware County to maintain local shelters, and to Elam's Sanctuary Renovation Fund.
