More lockout fallout

("Will anyone blink in time this season?" Sept. 16)

These negotiations are like war. After the very first meeting, the players union should have put Crosby in front of a camera at a press conference and have him go all doom and gloom and cancel all further talks. Owners always win in this because they know the players want to play.

Donald Fehr vs. Gary Bettman. You have a better shot of Netanyahu and Ahmadinejad getting together for peace talks! I am a big hockey fan, but with this strike, lockout, whatever you call it, I will not be as big of a fan.

I am begging the NHL and players union to come to an agreement. Seriously. Please.

But enough

about hockey, eh?

Eagles love was in the air

Whatta you know, we're two-and-0! Last year, we should have been and weren't. This year, we shouldn't be but are. Go figure.

The Eagles remind me of the Miami Heat's first season with LeBron, Bosh and Wade - so much talent, but lacking an awareness of how to harness it. Once Miami figured it out, the rest of the NBA had no shot.

I can see the Eagles running into a few bumps along the way while they figure how to use what they've got. But if they reduce the turnovers, the rest of the NFL will be eating their dust.

I don't know if it's for real yet, and I don't care. I'm savoring this W.

RIP, Steve Sabol,

'visionary' of NFL Films

God bless Steve Sabol. May you rest in peace, amen!

He did so much to put the NFL on the map, not to mention introducing us to John Facenda. RIP.

If you are 50 or older, you grew up on NFL Films. The stirring music by Sam Spence. Narration by John Facenda, Harry Kalas and now Scott Graham. I hope Steve gets enshrined in the Hall of Fame, next to his father.

He introduced himself to me on my first day as an intern at Films - won't forget that. Steve, you will be missed.

Haverford School lost one of its own with his passing. Mr. Sabol was a pioneer and visionary who will be greatly missed. His passion, will and determination laid the groundwork for many others to follow their dreams.

If there is any justice in this world, Steve Sabol's funeral will be televised. In slow motion. With a brass band playing. @ChipChantry, Twitter
