J. Victor Dallin Jr., 75, a teacher at Henderson High School in West Chester for 20 years, died Tuesday, Sept. 18, of cancer at Lower Cape Fear Hospice in Bolivia, N.C.

Mr. Dallin grew up in Yeadon. His father was a well-known aviator and aerial photographer.

After graduating from Yeadon High School in 1954, Mr. Dallin attended what is now Drexel University and earned a bachelor's degree in secondary education from what is now Millersville University in 1959.

After graduating, Mr. Dallin joined the staff at Henderson High School. While teaching, he earned a master's degree in mathematics education from Villanova University in 1971.

He and his wife, Sue Markley Dallin, raised a family in Springfield, Delaware County. The couple met as students at Millersville and married in 1962 at Drexel Hill Baptist Church.

In 1979, Mr. Dallin left teaching to become an executive with Southern Wholesale Co. in Brookhaven, Miss.

From 1983 to 2003, he and his wife operated a retail store, the Shoe Cottage, in Pinehurst, N.C. After retiring, they moved to Wilmington, N.C.

Mr. Dallin was a member of the Rotary Club of Pinehurst.

"He was the quintessential family man, who most enjoyed spending time with his wife and children," his son J. Victor III said. "He loved vacations at the beach, playing bridge, and a good game of tennis."

In addition to his wife and son, Mr. Dallin is survived by another son, Mark; a daughter, Jennifer Case; and eight grandchildren.

A memorial service will be Saturday, Nov. 24, at Parkway Hills United Methodist Church in Madison, Miss.
