WHILE THE NHL lockout rolls on, players are rolling elsewhere.
Flyers forward Wayne Simmonds has signed to play in a German hockey league, according to a report in truehockey.com.
Simmonds signed a 6-year, $23.8 million contract extension in August with the Flyers. After being acquired in a trade with Los Angeles that involved Mike Richards, Simmonds had a career year last season with 28 goals and 21 assists. He played all 82 regular-season games and had 114 penalty minutes.
In other Flyers news, the team announced that their American Hockey League affiliate, the Adirondack Phantoms, will open training camp on Saturday at the Skate Zone in Voorhees, N.J.
