Woman killed after jumping in front of SEPTA train, police say

An unidentified white woman died when she jumped in front of a SEPTA train Tuesday evening in Southwest Philadelphia, police said.

The incident occurred near the 49th Street station shortly after 6 p.m., said SEPTA spokeswoman Heather Redfern. The train was outbound on the Media/Elwyn Line of Regional Rail.

Service was suspended in both direction for nearly three hours while police investigated the scene. - Robert Moran
