Guilty plea scheduled for Neumann-Goretti ex-baseball coach

IN APRIL, Louis Spadaccini - or, "Coach Lou" to the members of his baseball team at a South Philadelphia Catholic school - was set to plead guilty to charges that he gave drugs and alcohol to two teenage boys and sexually molested one of them in 2011.

Spadaccini's alleged victims and their families gathered in a city courtroom to witness the confession but the deal fell through, and his case was scheduled for trial in November.

Now, Spadaccini is scheduled to be in court Wednesday, again to plead guilty to assault. Attempts to reach defense attorney Tariq Karim El-Shabazz were not successful.

Prosecutors have said that Spadaccini, who coached baseball at Ss. Neumann-Goretti High and worked at the Criminal Justice Center, gave alcohol to and had sexual contact with a 13-year-old boy three times in July and August 2011 - twice at a South Philly Holiday Inn and once at the defendant's Iseminger Street home.

Prosecutors said he got the 14-year-old boy drunk and high on Xanax and orange soda spiked with vodka at the same hotel in September 2011.
