Wed. Pa. boys' and girls' roundup: Upper Perkiomen rallies

Upper Perkiomen's Maddie Fox struck quickly in overtime to lift the Indians to a 2-1 win over visiting Methacton in a Pioneer Athletic Conference field hockey game on Wednesday.

Trailing by 1-0 at the break, Methacton evened the score with a goal from Allie Torisi in the second half.

Just 44 seconds of overtime were needed, as Sami Stalford notched her second assist when she found Fox for the winner.

Katey Lederer was strong in goal, making six saves for Upper Perkiomen.

Catholic. Katie Kelly scored three goals and assisted on two as Archbishop Carroll handled Lansdale Catholic, 8-0, at home.

Micaela Beaty's two goals led Bonner-Prendergast to a 3-1 victory at Conwell-Egan.

Nonleague. Taylor Leonhardt recorded a hat trick as Notre Dame eased past host Merion Mercy, 6-2. Moira Putsch proved vital with three assists for the Irish (9-1).

Girls' Soccer

Freshman Siani Ashford scored as Bensalem won, 1-0, at St. Hubert, denying Bambies coach Mick McGroarty his 400th victory.

Ashford found the net with her back to the goal by chipping the ball over her shoulder.

Megan Wajda made four saves for the shutout.

In other nonleague play, Savannah Widdicombe converted a penalty kick in the 75th minute to earn Pope John Paul II a 1-1 draw at Interboro.

Catholic. Erika Forktus assisted on both Conwell-Egan goals in a 2-1 home victory over Archbishop Carroll.

Pioneer. Boyertown's Emily Diehl led the way with two goals and two assists in a 7-0 victory over visiting Pottstown.

Boys' Soccer

Junior forward Tyler Comport notched a goal and an assist for Boyertown in the Bears' 5-0 win at Pottstown in the Pioneer Athletic Conference.

Senior goalkeeper Jake Brumbach made seven saves to earn the shutout as the Bears improved to 7-1 in league play.

In other conference action, Methacton raced past visiting Upper Perkiomen, 4-0, behind two goals from Matt Carey.

Nonleague. John Ciarlante scored on a penalty kick in the 62d minute to lift William Tennent over visiting Owen J. Roberts, 2-1.
