After the game, Prep quarterback Chris Martin echoed his coach's sentiments of dissatisfaction, saying there is still plenty of room for improvement.
"I like the way that we came back and put up 37 uncontended, but we still have a lot of work to do," Martin said.
After knotting the game, 7-7, it was all Hawks in the second quarter, as they ran 21 offensive plays, holding the ball for most of the quarter and wearing out the Roman defense.
When the Cahillites (2-2) did have the ball, the Prep defense was stifling, sacking Michael Keir three times and constantly pressuring him. While the Cahillites did score the first touchdown, their offensive momentum stopped there, as miscues hurt them.
The Hawks recovered a Roman fumble, intercepted a pass by Keir, and recovered a punt for a touchdown. On defense, they also forced three punts and two turnovers on downs.
Martin, a junior, threw the ball 18 times in the first half, completing 12 for 110 yards. Martin completed four more passes in the second half for 28 yards, before being taken out of the game with most of the starters.
