* In as logical a choice as there
has been since Shirley Bassey wailed "Goldfinger," the title song for the next James Bond film, "Skyfall," will be performed by Adele.
It was written by Adele and Paul Epworth ("Rolling in the Deep") and was recorded at London's famed Abbey Road Studios.
The song will be available on Adele's official site on Friday, coinciding with the 50th anniversary of the release of "Dr. No," the first Bond movie.
"Skyfall" opens in the U.S. Nov. 9.
* A divided appellate court on
Monday upheld Don Johnson's jury award over profits from "Nash Bridges," but cut its amount by more than $8 million. The California 2nd District Court of Appeal panel voted 2-1 to uphold a verdict that determined the actor was owed millions from the hit series, but cut its amount from $23.2 million to $15 million. Johnson is still eligible to recoup interest on the award, which will be substantial.
"Nash Bridges" aired for six seasons on CBS, before going off the air in 2001.
* Oscar telecast producers
Craig Zadan and Neil Meron announced Monday that Seth MacFarlane ("Family Guy") will host the 85th annual Academy Awards ceremony in February.
MacFarlane said being invited to host the 2013 Academy Awards "was the greatest call that I could have gotten in show business."

* Drew Barrymore, 37, and her
husband, Will Kopelman, 34, welcomed baby Olive Barrymore Kopelman on Sept. 26.
In a merger of 1 percenters, Drew wed Will, an art consultant, in June. He's the son of former Chanel CEO Arie Kopelman.
A statement from Chris Miller at Drew's Flower Films, said the baby was born "happy, healthy and welcomed by the whole family." The statement didn't provide specifics on the birth.
* Police in Las Vegas say River
Viiperi, 21, the model boyfriend of Paris Hilton, was cited after a scuffle with another man at a nightclub on the Strip.
Officer Laura Meltzer said that Viiperi was ticketed for misdemeanor battery and released after police were called about 3:30 a.m. Monday to the Wynn Las Vegas resort.
Meltzer said a man complained that Viiperi hit him during an argument. No serious injuries were reported.
But Paris' honor was restored.
* Lindsay Lohan's comeback
TV-movie "Liz & Dick" will premiere on Lifetime on Nov. 25.

* Leonardo DiCaprio and
Tobey Maguire led a cast of stars in a new public-service announcement (vote4stuff) urging young voters to use social media to express the issues most important to them in the election.

* Like the NHL hockey players
and NFL referees, the Minnesota Orchestra has canceled its concerts through Nov. 25 after locking out its musicians.
Management and musicians failed to reach a new agreement Sunday before the old contract expired at midnight.
Management rejected musician proposals for arbitration and for allowing the musicians to play during negotiations. The musicians rejected a management proposal that would have cut their salaries an average of 34 percent.
* Philadelphia-based Artsploita-
tion Films, founded by TLA's Ray Murray, had a fun September.
The company's erotic Lithuanian science fiction drama, "Vanishing Waves," scored big at Fantastic Fest, the largest genre film festival in the USA, in Austin, Texas.
"Vanishing Waves" won best picture and also won for best direction ( Kristina Buozyte) and best screenplay (Buozyte and Bruno Sampler). Star Jurga Jutaite won as best actress.
Alina Levshin, of Artsploitation's "Combat Girls," a Germanskinhead drama, was named best actress in the Next Wave Spotlight Competition. Additionally, Artsploitation picked up distribution rights for the sex-filled, Serbian drama "Clip," at the Toronto International Film Festival.
* Kevin James will walk the red
carpet at the Prince Music Theater on Tuesday night at a screening of his MMA comedy "Here Comes the Boom."
Talent is expected to start arriving at 5:15 p.m. The movie starts at 6. It opens in Philadelphia Oct. 12.
* NBC10 has hired a new
weekend anchor. Chris Cato will anchor the 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. newscasts on weekends with Denise Nakano, and contribute to weekday reports.
Cato comes to Philly from CBS affiliate WSPA in Greenville-Spartanburg, S.C., where he had worked since 2005. He is from Oneonta, Ala.
* "Modern Family" star Sofia
Vergara spent Monday at the Barnes Foundation, which tweeted out a pic of the sitcom darling, who should have won the Emmy, and her new fiancé, Nick Loeb.
Pictures, of course, are not allowed at the Barnes, but they made an exception for Sofia. How often does a Rubens walk into the Barnes?
