3 killed in city shootings

The unrelated assaults were blocks apart in North Philadelphia and Brewerytown.

Three men were killed Monday in unrelated shootings within blocks of each other in North Philadelphia and the city's Brewerytown section, police said.

At 3:54 p.m., police found a 19-year-old man with two gunshots wounds in his chest inside a car in the 1700 block of North Hollywood Street, police said.

The victim was transported to Temple University Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 4:23 p.m.

No arrests were reported in that case.

Shortly after 5 p.m., a 51-year-old man was shot in the mouth in the area of Ingersoll and 25th Streets, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police had a suspect in custody.

Shortly after 7 p.m. in the area of 23d and Stewart Streets, there was a double shooting at an auto-body shop, police said.

A 25-year-old man was transported to Temple with a gunshot wound in his back, police said. He was pronounced dead at 7:38 p.m.

A 21-year-old man was taken by private automobile to Temple with a gunshot wound in his right hand. He was reported in stable condition. Police said he was being held as a prisoner at the hospital.

Before these most recent killings, Philadelphia had recorded 260 homicides so far this year. For the same period last year, there were 241 homicides.
