A 20-year-old man who allegedly pointed a gun at police was shot twice late Tuesday afternoon in South Philadelphia, police said. Around 5 p.m., police were called to Hemberger and McKean Streets for a report of a man with a gun, said Lt. Ray Evers. They spotted a man who fit the description, and a foot chase ensued south on Hemberger. The man hopped a fence and pointed a revolver at the officers, Evers said. One officer opened fire, wounding the man in the left leg and left buttock, Evers said. The man was listed in stable condition at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. - Robert Moran
