Gavin Bright's hat trick lifts Clearview past Kingsway

Gavin Bright finished off a hat trick in overtime Monday to lift visiting Clearview over Kingsway, 3-2, in a Tri-County Royal boys' soccer game.

After taking a pass from Brett Milden, Bright ripped the game-winner to the top corner from 22 yards out to knock off The Inquirer's eighth-ranked team in South Jersey.

Bright scored twice in the second half, including a goal with less than two minutes remaining to send the game to overtime.

He headed home a corner kick to bring Clearview within a goal, then tied it when he scored from 12 yards out after a scramble in front of the box.

Colonial. Emre Kasik and Tommy Sheehan each scored a pair of goals in Sterling's 5-2 win at Audubon.

Burlington County Freedom. Guilherme DeCarvano's hat trick led visiting Westampton Tech past Medford Tech, 7-1.

Julian Ortiz and Humphrey Stein each added a pair of goals in the win.

Cape-Atlantic National. Steven Tobolski scored three times and host Sacred Heart beat Holy Spirit, 7-0.

Nonleague. Joe Cicchino made 22 saves and visiting Rancocas Valley topped Cherokee, 1-0.

Cherokee is ranked No. 4 in South Jersey by The Inquirer. Jacob Sadlier scored in the first half and the Red Devils held on despite being outshot, 22-7.

Jon Gery scored with 14 minutes left and Wildwood Catholic salvaged a 1-1 tie against visiting Cedar Creek.

Girls' Soccer

Maddie Lord scored with three seconds left in overtime to cap a dramatic comeback and give Audubon a 2-1 win at Sterling in a Colonial Conference matchup.

Lord set up Chelsea Fasion for the tying goal with two minutes remaining to force overtime.

Also in the Colonial Conference, Haddonfield scored four second-half goals to push past visiting Haddon Township, 4-0.

Madison Stebich made 20 saves for Woodbury, which picked up a scoreless tie at Collingswood.

Taylor Nichols and Pam Watson each scored twice and Haddon Heights beat visiting Paulsboro, 8-1.

Tri-County. Gianna Bowe and Nicole Figueroa scored in the first half to lead Clearview to a 2-1 win over visiting Kingsway.

Burlington County. Mecara Bruce, Giselle Chica, and Alexis McTamney scored to lead host Bordentown past Delran, 3-2.

Olympic. Sarah McGlinn had three goals and an assist as Cherry Hill West rolled at Timber Creek, 5-1.

Field Hockey

Carlina Sacco broke a scoreless tie with 3 minutes, 32 seconds left to lift St. Joseph's past host Clearview, 1-0, in a nonleague match.

Sacco took a feed from Emily DeMarco at the top of the right circle and beat goalie Ashley DiRienzo on the left post for the win.

Elsewhere in nonleague action, Kaitlin Wilson's two goals led host Buena past Cedar Creek, 4-0.

Seneca broke through for three second-half goals and Carly McCausland scored twice in a 4-0 win at Cherry Hill West.

Moorestown scored five times, including a pair from Sarah Powell, and topped visiting Pennsauken, 5-0.

Krista LeMaina had four goals and host Collingswood topped Rancocas Valley, 6-0.

Highlighted by Mackenzie Magnotta's hat trick, New Egypt crushed visiting Pemberton, 6-0.

Burlington County Patriot. Michelle Hazlett, Koedi Shakir, and Kacie Stettner scored in the first half and host Bordentown held on for a 3-2 win against Cinnaminson.

Tara Mason had a 15-save shutout for Holy Cross, which tied Delran, 0-0.


Cherokee topped Sterling, 25-23, 25-19, in a nonleague match to end the Silver Knights' 18-game winning streak.
