Wed. Pa. girls' roundup: New Hope-Solebury rallies

Despite giving up an early goal, New Hope-Solebury clawed back for a 2-1 victory over host Lower Moreland on Wednesday in Bicentennial League field hockey action.

Lindsay Boerner opened the scoring just eight minutes into the game, before Cameron Costello notched the equalizer for New Hope-Solebury, setting the stage for Maggie Dougherty's second-half winner.

Also in the Bicentennial, Christopher Dock rode 12 saves from goalie Marissa Souder to a 2-0 blanking of Delco Christian.

Catholic. Katie Kelly notched five goals as Archbishop Carroll blanked Little Flower, 12-0.

Mary Beth Keith, Megan Kelly, and Alyssa Lemons added two goals apiece for the Patriots.

Catholic Academies. Sophomore Corinne Persichetti scored the overtime winner for Gwynedd-Mercy in its 3-2 thriller against Merion Mercy.

Nonleague. Episcopal Academy senior Alana Dumas ensured that her team's perfect season would continue, leading the 15-0 Churchwomen to a 4-0 victory over visiting Tower Hill. The forward netted two goals in the win, and junior Gianna Pileggi stopped all six shots she faced to record her 10th shutout of the season.

Notre Dame, just a game behind Episcopal in the Inter-Ac League, took to the road to beat Catholic League leader Cardinal O'Hara, 2-1. After a scoreless first half, two second-half goals from Notre Dame's leading scorer, Moira Putsch, sent the Lions to their first loss of the season.

Goals from Megan Reilly and Kelly Meade sprung St. Hubert to a 2-0 defeat of visiting West-Mont Christian.

Katie Mooney recorded two goals and added an assist in Villa Maria's 4-0 triumph over Sacred Heart.


Two goals apiece from Karli Heron and Miranda O'Connell sent Philadelphia Academy Charter to a 7-2 victory over visiting Washington in the Public League.

In other Public League play:

Bodine scored its first goal of the season in dramatic fashion, Cecilia Medina's late winner proving the difference in a 1-0 victory over Frankford.

Central wrapped up its regular season with a 5-0 shutout of Northeast. Liza Tomczuk scored a hat trick for the Lancers.

Prep Charter's Ayanna Brown scored twice in a 9-0 romp over Dobbins, a game in which eight Huskies reached the score sheet.

Nonleague. Taylor Quinn played the hero's role for Radnor, tying the score with .4 seconds remaining in regulation before netting the overtime winner in a 2-1 victory over Gwynedd-Mercy.

First-half goals from Sarah Walker and Sophia Linguiti propelled Germantown Friends to a 2-0 win against Notre Dame.

Riley Yankowich scored midway through the second half as Germantown Academy beat Lawrenceville, 1-0.

Junior Katira Dobbins scored twice in Westtown's 5-1 win over Christian Academy.
