Howard S. Aurelius Jr., 93, a plant manager at General Electric's Valley Forge facility during a 47-year career with the company, died Sunday, Sept. 30, at Premier Place at the Glenview in Naples, Fla.
Mr. Aurelius was born in Troy, N.Y., and grew up in Philadelphia. He earned a degree in industrial engineering at the University of Pennsylvania.
In 1941, he married his childhood sweetheart, Jeanette, who died in 1985.
He started working for General Electric at the company's switch-gear plant in Philadelphia.
While at the company, he was part of the team that built the first space vehicle to successfully reenter Earth's atmosphere.
