Roam the rain forests in Delaware

Clifford and his pals make an anniversary tour stop at the Keswick Theatre on Sunday.

The natural history museum offers adventures.

Explore the rain forests of South America at Delaware Museum of Natural History's "Rain Forest Adventure" exhibition through Jan. 6.

The exhibition will allow visitors to learn though activities such as becoming a research assistant, wearing a lab coat, and using microscopes and slides to examine bugs from the rain forest, including a blue iridescent butterfly and other creatures. Via video display, families will meet children who live in the rain forest as they discuss the challenges they face. The exhibition includes two displays by the Nature Conservancy and local artist Robert P. Horan, who will talk about their work preserving rain forests in British Columbia, the Philippines, the Amazon, and elsewhere. Visitors can climb a 9-foot-tall kapok tree and crawl inside a log to learn about animals that live in them. Other cool things to do include exploring a gorilla's nest and weaving on a loom.

"Rain Forest Adventure" is created by Stepping Stones Museum for Children and is sponsored locally by DuPont.

"Rain Forest Adventure," 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Delaware Museum of Natural History, 4840 Kennett Pike (Route 52), Wilmington. Hours are 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and noon to 4:30 p.m. Sundays. Admission: $9; $7 ages 3 to 17; $8 for seniors; free 2 and younger. Clifford the Big Red Dog

Clifford the Big Red Dog romps into the Keswick Theatre on Sunday, continuing his 50th Anniversary Tour.

Go on a journey with Clifford and his friends from Birdwell Island as they share his values of Being Big. Clifford and his pals Emily Elizabeth, Cleo, and T-bone will teach children the importance of respect, working together, and being responsible. Showtimes are at 1 and 4 p.m.

Clifford the Big Red Dog, 1 and 4 p.m. Sunday at the Keswick Theatre, 291 N Keswick Ave., Glenside. Admission: $27.50, $18.50 for children. Mums and pumpkins

On Saturday and Sunday, there will be a plethora of pumpkins as Camden Children's Garden honors autumn and its mascot Mum Bear.

Pumpkin crafts, stories, and other activities will take place among the garden's vibrant mums. There will be a limited supply of pumpkins available for families to purchase for a nominal fee, paint, and take home.

Mum Madness and Pumpkin Parade Family Festival, 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Camden Children's Garden, 3 Riverside Dr., Camden. Garden hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. The garden is closed on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays and open by reservation on Thursdays.
