A man was hit by gunfire seven times Thursday afternoon in a double shooting outside an auto-repair shop in Southwest Philadelphia, police said.

Around 3:30 p.m., two men walked up to a customer who was having his car fixed at the shop in the 5400 block of Paschall Avenue and opened fire, said Lt. John Walker of Southwest Detectives.

The victim, a 34-year-old man police believe was the intended target, was reported in critical condition Thursday at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. A 39-year-old shop employee who was under the hood of the car was shot in the left leg. He was reported in stable condition at the same hospital.

More than 22 shots were fired, Walker said. No arrests were reported. - Robert Moran
