MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - A school district in central Pennsylvania has canceled a pair of homecoming dances after officials discovered a loaded gun at a high school.
The Middletown Area School District sent an e-mail to parents about the incident Friday afternoon, the Harrisburg Patriot-News reported.
According to the e-mail, the gun had been confiscated earlier in the day at Middletown Area High School. It says an unspecified number of students were taken into custody.
The district posted a message on its website canceling the dances, which were to be held hours later at the middle and high schools on Friday night. It said the events would be rescheduled. The district said extra police would be on hand for homecoming activities scheduled for Saturday. - AP
