Dante Stallworth - killed a man while driving drunk. Released from Patriots in August 2012.
Pacman Jones - has a rap sheet as long as my arm. Allegedly shot a man in Las Vegas who is now paralyzed, after he assaulted a female dancer the same night. He now plays for the Cincinnati Bengals.
Maybe I'm wondering about all of this because I'm not an animal lover. Perhaps I'm protecting Vick because I'm an Eagles fan. Michael Vick served a jail sentence. The players I've listed above never served more than 30 days, if they went to prison at all.

Whoever sold Michael Vick a dog should be arrested. He is what he is and I will never forgive the Eagles for hiring him. As a matter of fact I live in Virginia and this is Redskins country, but I have always been loyal to the Eagles until the day they hired him. Every bit of our Eagles gear is gone in the trash and I say a little prayer every night to please let them end up in last place, one step below the Redskins. When you do what he did, you do not change. I am tired of hearing that he paid his debt to society. He can never never pay that debt off. I think the Eagles fans that are saying he is OK now are so desperate for a winning season they will say anything. Good for you for not going to games or having any Eagles gear.

Been rooting for the Eagles since 1959 (I'm 62). Now, with Vick on the team I just don't have the heart to do it and won't.
If Vick had given up football after prison and went to work at an animal shelter for whatever they pay, cleaning cages, doing menial chores, then I would say he was on the road to recovery.
Recently we had to put down our two cats, siblings, both 14 (cancer). We just took in 3 "rescue" kittens. Two (sisters) were in a storm drain not too long after birth for eight days; two persistent women finally got them out. Third kitty was rescued from a cat hoarder. Much joy has come back to our household.

How quaint of a country we live in; where a president can take a nation to war, ransack it and kill millions of civilians in two countries under the flimsy subterfuge of fighting terrorism, and leave office unscathed; while a man who has served two years for dogfighting can barely secure endorsements nor the forgiveness from so-called Christians for his past wrongs. A nation who won't root for Vick but will root for the U.S. upon her next unlawful, deviant, military intercourse with a colored, sovereign nation. Heinous international war crimes fit for a Hague setting vs. a man who served time for running a dogfighting ring. Ah, yes, a country values its dogs over humans as though they were kissing cousins to the canine family. Ah, Good ol' U.S.A., you gotta love it.

Comtempt for citizens
Re: "FOP fundraiser for cop on video" ( Daily News, Oct. 12).
The FOP's decision to throw a party for a cop who in fact assaulted a citizen is not surprising. It shows the contempt that police have for citizens and it reinforces the distrust that many people have for the police. The FOP is like a criminal Mafia that defends crooked cops. This party is a mockery of justice. We call on City Council and the mayor to condemn this lynch-mob party in no uncertain terms.

Bring back Matt Cord!
I had heard through the grapevine that former 76ers PA announcer Matt Cord is being required to audition for the job he had done so brilliantly for 14 years. Dan Gross' report ("Ex-76er's mic man returning?" Daily News, Oct. 11) confirmed this and I am floored. At the games last year while other fans may have been complaining about the calls on the floor I could be heard griping about the announcer, the uninspiring Tom Lamaine. The PA announcer is capable of doing so much in setting the tone in the arena. To this day I can still feel the goose bumps induced by Matt Cord's passionate player introductions during the Sixers' magical run to the NBA finals in 2001. I've been to sporting events all over the country and nobody does the job better than Matt Cord. New owners Josh Harris and Adam Aron have gotten much right since they took ownership. However, they have gotten this so very wrong. Please restore Matt Cord to his rightful place behind the microphone!
