Moorestown captures Group 3 tennis title

Moorestown won all three singles matches on Monday afternoon to secure the South Jersey Group 3 girls' tennis title with a 3-2 win over Seneca.

It's the 24th straight group title for Moorestown.

The three Quakers singles players failed to lose a set as Breezy Maravich won 6-1, 6-2 at first singles, Shelby Burke was a 6-0, 6-0 winner at second singles and Kelly Hopkins and Natalie Narkiewiecz won 6-1, 6-1 at third singles.

In the Group 2 final, Taylor Ng's 6-0, 6-1 win at first singles helped Haddonfield roll past Barnegat, 5-0. Amanda Lancino followed with a 6-0, 6-0 win at second singles.

Girls soccer. Imani Taylor recorded her school-record 20th shutout as Eastern blanked visiting Paul VI, 3-0, in an Olympic Conference match.

Also in the Olympic, Kayla Bertolino and Sarah DeBerardinis scored for Shawnee as it dropped host Cherry Hill West, 2-0.

In Burlington County League, Bordentown blanked Palmyra, 7-0, behind two goals from Emily Meszaros. The Scotties tied the school record for 60 goals in a season.

Field hockey. Sammie Gericke's goal with 4 seconds left brought host Rancocas Valley to a 1-1 tie with Delran.

Tara Vittese's pair of goals helped lift Camden Catholic over Cherry Hill West, 5-1.
