Sat. Pa. boys' and girls' roundup: Ryan shuts out Carroll

Scarlett Walsh scored two goals to lead Archbishop Ryan over Archbishop Carroll, 3-0, in a Catholic League girls' soccer quarterfinal on Saturday.

Walsh scored twice in the first half, and Julianne Blank added a goal in the second. Jazmin Gonzalez stopped three shots to earn the shutout.

In other Catholic League playoff action:

Deanna Messner stopped seven shots to pace Archbishop Wood to a 3-1 victory over Cardinal O'Hara. Jackie Pierson started the scoring for the Vikings in the 20th minute off a cross from Carly Hoelsworth. Hoelsworth scored in the 36th minute. In the 63d minute, Aubree Brown scored off a corner kick.

St. Hubert scored three goals in an 11-minute span to defeat Little Flower, 3-0. Claire Alminde, Cassidy Rajkowski, and Caroline Price provided the goals, and Emily Jeffrey had four saves for St. Hubert.

Bicentennial League. Niki Clements scored in double overtime to lift Christopher Dock over Delco Christian, 2-1. Tabitha Miller scored with 13 minutes remaining to tie the score for Christopher Dock.

Boys' Soccer

Mark Forrest recorded a hat trick as Hill School defeated Blair Academy, 6-0, in the Mid-Atlantic Prep League. Jamie Forrest added a goal and an assist, and Shaun Quinn and Michael Leasure combined to stop three shots for the shutout.

Girls' Tennis

Taylor Hoffmann and Oana Grigoras of Lower Moreland defeated Villa Maria's Mary Anne Dobson and Cassidy Conners, 6-2, 6-4, to win the District 1 Class AA doubles championship.

The finals were set for Class AAA. In semifinals, Danielle Mustin and Christie Cesarini of Wissahickon defeated Lauren Ge and Kaylee Yan of Conestoga, 6-4, 6-2, and Maureen and Katherine Devlin of Wissahickon topped Molly Bair and Amirah Salim of Abington, 6-2, 6-0. The final is scheduled for Wednesday.
