THE SEARCH FOR Saavni Venna, a 10-month-old girl who was abducted from an apartment in King of Prussia after her grandmother was murdered, continued Monday night with Upper Merion Police, Montgomery County detectives and the FBI investigating.

"If somebody finds my baby, please bring my baby back," Shiva Prasad, Saavni's father, said to reporters Monday night outside Upper Merion Police headquarters, on Valley Forge Drive in King of Prussia.

"Don't do any harm to the baby," Prasad said about 11:30 p.m., his voice wavering and his eyes welling up with tears as relatives and neighbors looked on from inside police headquarters.

Police had responded about 1 p.m. to the C building at the Marquis Apartments on Dekalb Pike near King Circle, and found Satyawathi Venna, Saavni's 61-year-old grandmother, dead.

Upper Merion Police Chief Tom Nolan, said the woman appeared to have suffered trauma, but authorities did not disclose additional details of her injuries or whether any potential suspects had been identified as of Monday night.

"Our main focus right now is the safe return of this little girl," Nolan said.

State Police issued an Amber Alert for Saavni around 4 p.m. She has black hair, brown eyes, weighs about 21 pounds, is about 2 feet 6 inches tall and was wearing a white dress with pink flowers when she was abducted, police said.

Tipsters are asked to call the Upper Merion Police Department at 610-265-3232 or 9-1-1.
