Second eight: No. 9 Coatesville (6-2, 96.25; 8-2, 109), No. 10 West Chester Rustin (6-2, 101.25; 8-2, 108), No. 11 Garnet Valley (6-2, 88.75; 8-2, 107), No. 12 Haverford (7-1, 96.25; 8-2, 99), No. 13 Neshaminy (6-2, 91.25; 7-3, 95), No. 14 Abington (6-2, 90; 8-2, 92), No. 15 Wissahickon (5-3, 78.75; 7-3, 89), and No. 16 Downingtown West (6-2, 91.25; 7-3, 88).
On the outside looking in: North Penn (4-4, 490, 61.25; 6-4, 830), Souderton (5-3, 680; 6-4, 830), Perkiomen Valley (7-1, 97.5; 7-3, 830), Kennett (6-2, 82.5; 7-3, 820), and Cheltenham (5-3, 72.5; 7-3, 810).
Our projection has Unionville and Spring-Ford finishing tied for seventh place with an average of 115 points. The Indians, with the edge in the tiebreaker that compares win-loss-tie records for both in games that were used to determine their respective power points, would take seventh, and Spring-Ford, eighth.
Top half of the bracket: No. 16 Downingtown West at No. 1 Downingtown East; No. 9 Coatesville at No. 8 Spring-Ford; No. 12 Haverford at No. 5 C.B. South; and No. 13 Neshaminy at No. 4 Plymouth Whitemarsh.
Bottom half of the bracket: No. 15 Wissahickon at No. 2 Ridley; No. 10 W.C. Rustin at No. 7 Unionville; No. 14 Abington at No. 3 Pennridge; and No. 11 Garnet Valley at No. 6 Pennsbury.
If that's how it plays out, neighbors Downingtown West and Downingtown East would renew their series; Coatesville and Spring-Ford would square off in a rematch of last year's first-rounder, won by the Red Raiders, 60-28; and Ches-Mont League American Conference rivals W.C. Rustin and Unionville would clash again in Kennett Square.
Of course, several games over the next two weekends could impact our projected first-round pairings.
On Friday, Coatesville will visit Ches-Mont National foe Downingtown West. Also, in a battle for first place in the Pioneer Athletic Conference, Perkiomen Valley will meet Pottsgrove. And, in the Central League, Conestoga will take on Haverford.
In Week 10, there will be at least four key games: Pennsbury at Suburban One League National Conference rival Neshaminy, Haverford at Garnet Valley in the Central, Unionville at Kennett in the Ches-Mont American, and Spring-Ford at Perkiomen Valley in the PAC-10.
