Atlantic 10 preseason picks for women's hoops

TEMPLE'S WOMEN'S basketball team has been picked to finish fifth and Saint Joseph's sixth in the Atlantic 10 this season according to a vote of the 16 league coaches released Wednesday.

La Salle was picked to finish ninth.

Temple was 23-10 last season, Saint Joseph's was 22-11 and La Salle was 14-17.

Owls senior center Victoria Macaulay was picked on the preaseason all-conference team along with La Salle senior guard Brittany Wilson.

Maccauley and Wilson also were picked for the all-defensive team.

Maccauley averaged 9.7 points and 7.5 rebounds last season and Wilson averaged 14 points and 4.8 rebounds.

Saint Joseph's senior guard Ashley Prim was picked for the third team all-conference.

On the second team all-conference is Richmond junior forward Genevieve Okoro, from Eastern High in South Jersey. On the third team all-conference is George Washington senior forward/guard Tara Booker, from Absegami High in South Jersey.

Dayton has been selected to defend its championship. Following the Flyers are: Richmond, Charlotte, Duquesne, Temple, Saint Joseph's, St. Bonaventure, George Washington, La Salle, Xavier, Fordham, Butler, VCU, Saint Louis, Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
