Wed. S.J. girls' roundup: Paul VI secures division crown

Paul VI clinched its fourth straight Olympic Conference National Division title in girls' soccer Wednesday with a 1-0 win against visiting Camden Catholic.

"We came into this year not sure what to expect," Paul VI coach Keith Walters said. "The girls have exceeded all of our expectations. It's a tremendous achievement."

Rachel Fanrack scored the lone goal in the first half.

Casey Baker sent a cross from the right side, hitting Fanrack in stride in the middle of the penalty area. Fanrack settled the ball on one touch before firing home her first goal of the season.

In other Olympic Conference play:

Taylor Gentile collected a goal and an assist in host Cherry Hill West's 2-0 victory against Timber Creek.

Nicole Donnelly and Rachelle Ross scored to lead Lenape past visiting Bishop Eustace, 2-1.

Tri-County. Karlie Crispin needed only two saves to earn a shutout in Pitman's 2-0 win at Deptford.

Gymnastics

Lenape's Marissa Toci won the all-around competition at the Olympic Conference championships.

Toci had the top score in the vault and the bars, with scores of 9.6 and 9.75, respectively. Her combined score in all four events was 38.6.

Field Hockey

Carly McCausland scored all four of host Seneca's goals in its 4-0 win against Paul VI in the first round of the Central Jersey Group 3 playoffs.

McCausland now has eight goals in her last three games.

Megan McLaughlin stopped nine shots to earn her seventh shutout this season.

In other Central Jersey Group 3 playoff action, Danielle Pandl scored twice and Northern Burlington knocked off visiting Burlington Township, 3-0.

South Jersey Group 3. Host Timber Creek won its first-round game against Pinelands, 4-1, behind a pair of goals by Nicole Melchiorre.

Delsea scored three times in the first half and cruised to a 5-0 win in a first-round match against visiting Cumberland.

Colonial. Claudia Theriault scored twice, and West Deptford won, 4-0, at Haddon Township.

Cape-Atlantic National. Kemlyn Pearson and Averi Smith combined to make six saves in Lower Cape May's 2-0 victory over visiting Buena.

Nonleague. Kylee Hirst broke a scoreless tie with a minute to go to lift Gloucester to a 1-0 win over visiting Gloucester Catholic. Sarah Ferry found Hirst waiting on the left post for the game-winner.

Maddy Scuderi scored with 3 minutes, 18 seconds to go to send Kingsway to a 1-0, home win over Triton. Scuderi scored in a scramble in front of the cage.

Amber Sickler recorded a hat trick in Woodstown's 3-0 victory at Pennsville.

Emily Mitten scored twice in Pitman's 4-0, home win against Deptford.

Jess Dadino had a goal and an assist in Moorestown's 3-1 victory at Bordentown.

Jessica Hoffman collected two goals and two assists, and visiting GCIT shut out Highland, 6-0.

Lexi Smith blasted four goals for Florence, which won at Cinnaminson, 4-2.

Summer Sklivas turned aside 15 shots, and Woodbury salvaged a 0-0 tie against visiting Clayton.
