2 Camden homicides; year’s toll at 55

Authorities on Monday were investigating the homicides of two Camden residents Sunday.

About 4:45 p.m. Sunday, Demond Jones, 40, was found shot multiple times near North 28th and Sherman streets and pronounced dead at the scene. About 8:30 p.m., Luis Ramon Colon, 29, was found shot several times on the front steps of his home in the 1300 block of Morton Street. He was taken to Cooper University Hospital and died shortly after arriving.

The two slayings brought the number of homicides for the year in the city to 55, near the record 58 in 1995.
