Northeast wins AAA title

ANDY JEAN PIERRE scored with 14 minutes left and Northeast held on to edge Franklin Towne Charter, 1-0, in the Public League AAA boys' soccer final.

The goal was Jean Pierre's 20th of the season. The senior forward scored off a long pass and deked to draw the goalie out of the net.

It's the Vikings' first title since 2007 and head coach Sam Feldman will retire after the season.

In the girls' final, Rachel Gilborges stuffed home a rebound with 10 minutes left and Franklin Towne Charter topped Central, 1-0, for the Coyotes' second straight title.

Stefanie Ulmer took the initial shot, which bounced around the box until Gilborges connected.

In the girls' Catholic League final, Archbishop Ryan scored twice in the second half to seal a 3-1 win over visiting Lansdale Catholic.

Brittany Robinson scored off a pass from Scarlett Walsh with 2 minutes left. Walsh scored with 2 minutes left in the first half and Kaitlyn McFadden added a second-half goal.
