The plans for Joe Frazier's statue appear to be in order a year after the boxing icon's death.

The artists have been selected for review, submissions are due at the end of the month, and a final proposal will be approved in late December, according to Richard Hayden, a lawyer for Xfinity Live! and a liaison between the city and Frazier's estate.

Wednesday marks the one-year anniversary of Frazier's death after a short bout with liver cancer. He was 67.

The statue will be unveiled in 2013 at Xfinity Live! in the South Philadelphia Sports Complex.

Hayden said the committee, which is led by Frazier's estate, is considering seven artists, four of whom are from the area.

Plans for the statue were announced in September by Mayor Nutter and fund-raising began at www.frazierstatue.com. Hayden said the group is close to its goal of $150,000 and is hopeful that it can close the gap with the mayor's help.
