6 ABC anchor/reporter Lisa Thomas-Laury says she was lucky to escape injury in a car accident Friday in Ardmore.

Thomas-Laury's cream-colored Porsche Cayenne SUV was struck by another car near County Line and Roberts roads. She was thankful that her airbag deployed and that she was wearing a seat belt, the veteran broadcaster told us when we contacted her after hearing of the accident.

"It looks worse than it is," she said about a bruise on her head.

She said a first-responder told her she would have been much worse off if she hadn't been driving an SUV.

She was taken to Paoli Memorial Hospital in a neck brace. Doctors were extra-careful with her head injury because she has suffered from POEMS syndrome, a neurological disorder that sidelined her for several years. She was treated and promptly released from the hospital.

They'll collect cash and food donations.
