EAGLES quarterback Michael Vick said Wednesday he "definitely had a serious heart-to-heart conversation" with his brother Marcus over Marcus' tweet Monday night asking the Eagles to trade Michael to keep him from being hurt behind an offensive line that gave up seven sacks.

"We definitely got that corrected," he said.

"You'll never see that again," said Vick, who said he didn't think the tweet put him in a tough spot. He said people shouldn't attach any significance to anything said by anyone around him, because they aren't him.

"I'm playing a football game. If that's his opinion, and that's what he wanted to say - you've got to say it the right way, through the right outlets," Vick said.

In any case, the QB said there will be no more shots at the team from his brother.

"I told him to shut off the Twitter," Vick said.

Allen's OK

Safety Nate Allen, who missed Monday's game with a hamstring problem suffered in practice last week, returned to practice Wednesday and said he will play Sunday against the Cowboys.

"It felt good, wasn't grabbing on me or anything," Allen said. "Monday, it was really grabbing a little bit. I was close to pulling the trigger and going . . . I didn't want to set myself back, go out there and make it into a month thing, instead of it just being this 1 week."

David Sims, who played his first snaps as an NFL safety Monday in Allen's place, missed Wednesday's practice with what Sims said was a minor foot injury.

Asked what he might do better if given another opportunity, Sims replied: "Prepare better. More film study. I thought I was watching enough, but obviously, not enough."

Forward thinking

Riley Cooper hid himself by lying flat in the end zone, then sprang up and caught a pass from kickoff returner Brandon Boykin, Cooper running 94 yards past startled Saints for a touchdown Monday night in New Orleans - except Boykin's throw led Cooper a little, making what was supposed to be a lateral into an illegal forward pass.

"It felt a little forward. I was hoping it wasn't. I was hoping it remained a touchdown, for sure," Cooper said Wednesday. He said he liked the idea right away when special-teams coordinator Bobby April brought it up.

"Bobby called me the beginning of the week and said, 'Here's what we're going to do. It'll work . . . this'll work, Riles, this'll work!' He's a heckuva coach."

Birdseed

Running back LeSean McCoy missed practice Wednesday with an illness, the Eagles said . . . Practice-squad defensive tackle Frank Trotter got a call Tuesday telling him the team needed to make some moves, and he was released, in favor of safety Phillip Thomas. Trotter got a call Wednesday telling him he could come back, after Julian Vandervelde was promoted to the 53-man roster . . . Wide receiver/punt returner Mardy Gilyard (hamstring) won't play Sunday . . . Running back Chris Polk sat out practice Wednesday with a toe problem.
